Rawley's Growing Up!

Rawley's growing up!

I'm not going to include too much commentary to these pictures and videos because other than Rawley developing and getting cuter each day, not too much has been happening with us beyond school and work! So, here's a little update on his development and utter adorableness.

Rawley still takes about 3 naps a day.

We got him this shirt shortly after he was born, and I love it because it looks like a traditional Filipino dress shirt - a barong!

One night while talking to my parents we put a croissant bowl lid on Rawley's head and he loved it.

Feet are definitely one of the most interesting things he's ever encountered.

Paul put him in a box with his favorite ball toy, which makes Rawley pretty much a cat.

He loves to snuggle things while he naps.

Just our little cuddly bear.

Rawley figured out about a month ago how to push the buttons on his new bouncer to make them light up and play music. We got him the bouncer on a yard sale Facebook page for cheap - and it's probably been the best thing we purchased for him so far since he spends a large amount of time in there and finally we don't have to hold him all the time (he much prefers being upright to being on his back.)

Still pumping milk for him all the time - it gets a little repetitive, but probably goes faster and is way less painful than nursing him so at least he's still getting the nutrition he needs. We've all gotten sick a few times over the past few months but Rawley's been consistently the least sick out of all three of us, probably because of the breastmilk.

So for baby adventures with parents still in school - I still walk to school with Rawley every Monday and Wednesday to go to class and pass him off to Paul. It's been working quite well and Rawley likes the time with Daddy. One day walking to school, I looked out and it was snowing a tiny bit, so I put Rawley in his warm clothes and "arctic car seat cover" and we headed out. About a minute after I'd started walking, though, heavy snow started to fall - and by the time I made it to the first building on campus, this was the result. Rawley was questioning my judgement, I think, but at least I made it to class that day!

Eating adventures! Rawley's started eating solid food. He loves fruit, eats grains pretty well, and is not a fan of green veggies so far. He also LOVES cheese, and since I'm always eating it I share it with him.

His first time eating solids.

Learning how to eat.

This is the current result of him eating solids - very happy smiles and laughs. We thought that his initial gaspy newborn laugh would have changed by now, but he still has it and it always cracks us up! He loves sitting in that high chair because he knows good food will soon come his way.

Stealing Daddy's spot on the bed is his favorite. Also spitting up and drooling on that spot.

Rawley first started making sort of crawling motions a few months ago. Now he's making some more serious ones, but no crawling as of yet - just some really good pivoting and rolling over on his own. We're actually pretty glad he's not crawling yet because our one bedroom apartment is too small/not safe for him to move around in! We're definitely moving this spring to a larger apartment, where he'll get his own room instead of having his crib in the living room.

This is a fairly recent video of his efforts. He was enjoying spending time on the floor with me while I was doing crunches after a run.

Sometimes Paul wears Rawley's P.J.'s.

Classic "I'm really sleepy and totally done with today, but at least you're feeding me" hands on face gesture.

Sometimes when Rawley spends time time in his bouncer and knocks the little ball off of it and on to the floor - this time he sat there for about five minutes, staring at it and laughing/smiling at it.

Took him out on a playground one day, and he liked the slide - sort of.

Rawley loves going outside, and is always happy for a while afterwards!

Trying to get Daddy to wake up.

But sometimes ya just gotta sleep...

...And get tickled...

.... And  "help" Mom with the laundry...

...Always eating or drinking more food...

...And eat ball-o's.

We've been going on walks and been jogging since the weather is so nice lately. Rawley absolutely LOVES being outside!

Took some photos of him with a professional camera I had checked out from the library to take pictures of my figurines with. The business has been going well, I've sold 9 already (including a large nativity set), most of them to total strangers.

So, so snuggly.

Hop on pop?

I can't get over how cute and handsome he is. Neither can many random women who approach us and exclaim how precious he is.

Rolling around on the floor is the best.

This was shortly before we started feeding him solids (we went for the free pancakes Paul got for his birthday) and he was very clearly interested in all the food we were eating.

Those eyes, though.

Attempting a great escape!

One time Paul came home early because I was super sick and Rawley was sort of sick. I had put Rawley out in the hallway (he normally naps in our room) because I super needed to conk out and he was already asleep. Paul managed to get past this little obstacle course without waking the baby or myself and gave me the cough medicine for when I woke up. #ninjaskills

Chillin' with Dad.

Daddy's little boy - he was just looking back at Paul every 10 seconds or so to make sure he was still there :)

After bath time!

We went to a Harry Potter themed activity and they had these cute little photo op places, including this "bottomless suitcase" one, based off the newest "Fantastic Beasts" movie. Rawley is one fantastic little beast!

Rawley just fits so well in this little nook, and he loves seeing what Daddy is doing.

One day, we got a vaccum, and I left Paul with Rawley home alone for some reason. Paul put Rawley in  the vacuum box, and this was the result - Rawley enjoying it for a bit, then slowly sinking down in the box with resulting rising baby panic.

Rawley is actually a little cat - loves boxes and toys that look like cat toys dangled in front of him. Although, he also likes chewing on EVERYTHING, including shoes, so a comparison to a small dog is also fair.

A couple months ago Rawley learned how to do this funny fish mouth thing.

Paul built his sister Becca a computer, and here's Rawley with the end result.

He rather enjoys wearing pants on his head.

Pants King!

Pirate??!

Chilling with Dad while I'm in class.

More chilling with Dad. Rawley charms all the girls in the Comms building.

Someone didn't want to wake up - and it wasn't Rawley.

One time Paul walked home to get the car because he forgot the keys and I didn't have a way to get to campus - and then I got blisters from carrying Rawley in his carrier instead of the stroller so Paul got the car and drove us back. Rawley was super mad, but we didn't have the car seat so I got him to sleep on my lap (with protection from the sun!)

Rawley really wants those baby puff snacks. That's definitely his "eating chair."

The unfortunate side effect of eating solids is occasional constipation - and when Rawley is constipated, he growls. We had a hard time figuring out why he started doing this until we also realized he had stopped going #2 for longer than was usual for him. We feed him lots of fruits and veggies now but he still gets like this sometimes, and we growl back at him, haha.

We finally went on another hike! This time with Rawley in his little carrier. Since I was extremely pregnant last summer (our first real summer together and married) we didn't really get to do too much in the way of real hikes, camping, etc. So, we're gonna change that this summer, and be outside very often. Rawley loves it, and very much enjoys being strapped to his dad! We found this little trail from a park that seemed to lead up into a major hiking circuit for REAL hikers (we saw a couple of backpackers up there) and although this wasn't that far from the highway, it was completely silent and peaceful there. Nature is amazing.

We found this up there too - might've been part of a fox or deer or something? At any rate, something had a good dinner a while ago.

We think the hat Rawley's wearing makes him look kind of like my grandma, since she has a similar hat she wears outside.

Stay in there, little Bean!

Recently he figured out how to click with his tongue, and I think it's one of the cutest things he's done yet. If we do it to him, then he almost always starts doing it back at us now.

He's just so snuggly, and it's so cute. Although he only snuggles soft things when he's sleepy - he normally doesn't snuggle us, and doesn't seem to like being picked up/held as much as most babies (as long has he's upright, he's pretty chill on his own.)

Hope you had a good class, Mom!

Sometimes just one bottle of milk won't quite cut it.

Whelp, that's just about it - we're so glad it's springtime and everything is warming up again! Hopefully we'll finish out this semester well and we're looking forward to an amazing summer together!
